On September 18, 2009 a computer-animated parody film, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, featuring the voices of Anna Faris, Bill Hader, James Caan, Bruce Campbell, Andy Samberg, Lauren Graham, Bobbe J. Thompson, Benjamin Bratt, Mr. T, Al Roker, Neil Patrick Harris, and Will Fortestarring, is released in the United States theatres.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is distributed by Columbia Pictures and produced by Sony Pictures Animation (it’s their 3rd film). The animation was inspired by the book of the same name for kids by Ron and Judi Barrett. In selected theaters the movie will be shown in 3D using IMAX 3D systems and RealD Cinema.

Co-directors and co-writers Chris Miller and Philip Lord say that Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was meant to be a parody of film-disasters like Armageddon, Twister, The Day After Tomorrow, and Independence Day.

The scientist Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader’s voice) has been creating inventions all his life. They are mostly unwanted by other people or extremely faulty, but he doesn’t give up. Finally he discovers the formula how to convert water into food to solve the world hunger problem. So, there’s no hunger now, but problems are not over, as the the food weather machine starts to think and make its own desicions…
