On October 23, 2009 a computer animated 3-D film, Astro Boy, based on the very successful Japanese Osamu Tezuka’s franchise of the same title, and featuring voices of Freddie Highmore, Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Kristen Bell, Eugene Levy, is released in USA.

Astro Boy is produced by Imagi Animation Studios, Gatchaman and TMNT. It’s directed by David Bowers and produced by Pilar Flynn (associate producer) and Maryann Garger.

Astro Boy (Freddie Highmore) is a young robot with incredible powers which was created in futuristic Metro City by a genius scientist (Nicolas Cage), who has lost his son. Unable to fullfill the his “father”’s expectations, Astro Boy leave out for a journey to find acceptance.

He experiences betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, learns joys and emotions of being human, but eventually he returns to save Metro City, when his friends are in danger, and start new relationship with the scintist who had rejected him.
