On September 9, 2009 an animated action/fantasy film, 9, starring John C. Reilly, Elijah Wood, Christopher Plummer, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau and Crispin Glover, is released by Focus Features in USA. 9 is produced by Timur Bekmambetov (director of Wanted) and Tim Burton and directed by Shane Acker.

9 is based on Acker’s short film of the same name which was nominated for the Academy Award. The screenplay was written by Ben Gluck, Shane Acker, and Pamela Pettler. Mindy Main was responsible for casting, art direction was done by Christophe Vacher and production design by Fred Warter and Robert St. Pierre. The MPAA has rated the film PG-13 for scary images and violence.

This surreal tale takes place in a world parallel to our own, a post-apocalyptic fantasy nightmare in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened.

Animation was started at Attitude Studio in Luxembourg, but then they moved to Toronto Starz Animation in Canada.
