On November 6, 2009 a science fiction disaster film, 2012, starring Amanda Peet, John Cusack, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Oliver Platt, and Woody Harrelson, is set to be released in United States. 2012 is directed by Roland Emmerich and distributed by Columbia Pictures. The shooting began in August 2008 in Vancouver. The screenplay is written by Roland Emmerich and Harald Kloser.

A global cataclysm occurs which leads to the end of the world and has survivors struggling for their lives. The film is inspired by several hypotheses that state that the ancient Mayans predicted a doomsday event will occur sometime around the 2012 northern hemisphere winter solstice.

Never before has a date in history been so significant to so many cultures, so many religions, scientists, and governments. ‘2012′ is an epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.
